Scale gliders are models of full-size gliders. Scale gliders are generally larger models, with a wingspan of ten metres or more and are mostly made from composite materials just like the modern full size counterparts. Similarly the Vintage gliders are modelled, they are constructed from Wood and fabric.
Powered models are used to tow the gliders up to a sufficient height for them to find the thermals that keep them in the air. Sometimes up to hours at a time depending on the pilot's skill and ability to stay focussed. Generally flights are between 5 and 30 minutes.
Some scale gliders are extremely close in appearance to their full scale counterparts and this makes them a beautiful sight at any flying field.
